Nominations for Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards

April 28 2014

Last call for nominations for The Dominion Post Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards 2014

With less than one week until nominations close for The Dominion Post Sportsperson of the Year Awards, Sport Wellington is calling for the general public, media and sports organisations to get their nominations in now.

Nominations are open until 5pm 5th May and recognise successes between the dates of 2nd April 2013 to 22nd April 2014 in the following 12 categories:
Sportsman, Sportswoman, Coach, Team, Disabled Sportsperson, Personality, Emerging Sportsman and Emerging Sportswoman, Club, Administrator, Volunteer, Official and Lifetime Achievement.

Sport Wellington’s Event Director James King is impressed with the nominations already received, “the strength of nominations is a real indication of the great work going on at all levels of the Greater Wellington sporting community. The quality of the nominations received has been of a consistently high standard across many different sporting endeavours, I don’t envy the awards judges tasked with narrowing the field to finalists.”

A six person judging panel will be deliberating from 5th May with a list of finalists announced on 16th May. All judges are what King describes as “highly experienced and well qualified, each bringing a unique skill set to the table.”

This year’s award ceremony will be held at the TSB Bank Arena on 12th June with ticket sales and table bookings available from 5th May.
