Sammy Johnson Releases New Single & Video
Monday 28 April, 2014 - Pacific reggae at its finest, the sunny-smooth Sammy Johnson returns with a new single ‘No Sleep’ off his forthcoming EP.
Blending soulful vocals and soothing reggae beats, ‘No Sleep’ is a juxtaposition of the sweet and sadness, with lyrics that explore the insomnia-induced nights that follow loosing a ladylove.
Having already gone number one on the NZ iTunes Reggae chart and cracked the US Billboard Top 40 Reggae Chart on debut, the single shows Sammy Johnson’s continued solidification as a rising star set for royalty status.
After exploding onto the Pacific/ Californian reggae and soul scene in 2013 with his hit collaboration with Hawaiian reggae star FIJI ’Give Me All’, Sammy Johnson has gone on to be a regular feature on the air play charts in both New Zealand and Hawaii.
He’s also already racked up a combined 1-million+ views for his videos in 2013, and following the release his debut EP Prelude last August, has been touring the US and Pacific, including sellout shows in LA and the Las Vegas 7s.
The ‘No Sleep’ video was directed and shot on location in LA by renowned Kiwi artist Askew One. Well regarded as one of the graffiti scene’s driving forces, he brings his own creative stamp to the production.
‘No Sleep’ is available now from iTunes and Google play.
