'Fireball’ International Speakers Set For Weekend Retreat

'Fireball’ International Speakers Set For Weekend Retreat

Auckland can disconnect from the power grid this weekend when U.S. speakers at the Eucharistic Convention rev it up.

Father Tony Ricard hails from New Orleans – home of the greatest Jazz in the world – so it’s no surprise that he sings, dances and preaches up a storm. His vibrant ministry is featured in a TV doco about “a Black Creole Catholic Priest in the poor crime-ridden 8th Ward of New Orleans. It provides an intimate glimpse of Father Tony’s unshakeable faith during the most difficult challenge of his priesthood – the aftermath of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, the single most catastrophic natural disaster in U.S. history." He is an amazing youth minister and pastor of the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints pro football team.

Martha Fernández-Sardina has been called a “ball of fire!” She is a new evangelization speaker, trainer, writer, and ministry consultant. She helps Catholics “rediscover the joy of believing and the enthusiasm for communicating the faith and become saintly”. She urges Catholics to “put out into the deep” and perform “obedience-testing, faith-stretching, trust-strengthening, vision-expanding, team-building, space-enlarging, net-busting, boat-sinking miraculous catches” with and for Jesus Christ.

Father Paul Glynn, an Aussie priest, will give a Sunday talk entitled “St John Paul II – the Great Mercy Pope,” just hours before JP II will be canonized in Rome.
