Anzac Day arrangements
The British Government and Armed Forces will be well represented at a number of Anzac Day services across the length and breadth of New Zealand on Anzac Day – from Russell in the north to Dunedin in the south.
“This is an important day for all of us,” said British High Commissioner Vicki Treadell. “It not only marks a significant event in our respective histories, but it has become a day when we pay our deep respect and heartfelt thanks to all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of freedom across the globe.
“This is a day that belongs to all of us – our shared past and our shared future.”
Mrs Treadell will lay a wreath at the 6am Dawn Parade in Wellington and a wreath at the Civic Service at 10am.
The Deputy High Commissioner Patrick Reilly will lay wreaths at the 6am Dawn Parade and the 10am Citizens’ Commemoration Service in Hamilton.
The Assistant Chief of the General Staff Major General David Cullen will lay a wreath at the 6am Dawn Parade at the Cenotaph in Lower Hutt, and a wreath at the 9.45am Civic Service in Petone. He will be accompanied by the Wellington-based United Kingdom Defence Adviser Lieutenant Colonel Tim Woodman.
Major General Cullen is in New Zealand for annual army to army talks.
