American Express Comedy Debate Headlines Winter Festival’s Comedy Trifecta
American Express celebrates 25 years of sponsorship of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival in 2014, by bringing back the Comedy Debate to the Winter Festival programme on Sunday 22 June.
Held at the Queenstown Events Centre, the American Express Comedy Debate will be will see comedians, TV presenters, a politician and a mayor discuss the fitting moot of ‘Forty is the New Thirty’.
Moderated by Jeremy Corbett, the dream line-up features razor-sharp Paul Ego, Mayor Tim Shadbolt and Michele A’Court battle it out against Jesse Mulligan, Jacinda Ardern and Oliver Driver to seek the truth behind the Four Zero milestone.

Having proudly rejoined the Winter Festival family of sponsors, Official Wine Supplier Gibbston Valley Wines are also coming to the American Express Comedy Debate party by giving Comedy Debate goers the chance to upgrade their giggles with a Gourmet Gibbston package.
The package includes a cheese platter and Gibbston Valley Pinot Noir and can be pre-purchased online with tickets.
The American Express Comedy Debate is the headline act in what will be a triple comedy bill in the 2014 Winter Festival programme.
Tickets for all the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival comedy events go on sale through Ticketek on 5 May, with the American Express Pre-sale starting from Tuesday 22 April.
Keep the laughs flowing on Tuesday June 24 with the Comedy Night. This evening of adults-only stand-up comedy is a crowd favourite, featuring Urzila Carlson, Brendhan Lovegrove, Paul Ego, Dai Henwood and Simon McKinney at 7pm at the Queenstown Memorial Centre.
Wednesday Lates with Brendhan and Urzila on Wednesday 25 June wraps up the comedy trifecta with their naughty sense of humour at 10pm at Vinyl Underground.
Festival Manager Lisa Buckingham recommends people get in quick to get their tickets as last year the comedy gala sold out within 24 hours.
“The American Express Comedy Debate has been one of the most popular Winter Festival events in the past and we’re so excited that American Express is bringing it back with wine partner Gibbston Valley Wines adding to the enjoyment.
But we warn fans to get in quick and get their tickets as they are sure to sell fast. With a triple bill of comedy we have lots to keep people entertained but numbers are limited to all events so it’s first-in-first-served!”
The Triple Bill of NZ Comedy events are part of the 10-day American Express Queenstown Winter Festival, taking place from 20 to 29 June.
