Uni Shorts 2014 - FINAL CALL for NZ Secondary School film entries
Just a final reminder as we approach the Easter break that the extended deadline for Uni Shorts is coming up on 30 April.
We are making a special call to New Zealand Secondary Schools for student made films that were completed between Nov 2012 and Jan 2014. If you have completed films from last year you would be interested in submitting, entry is FREE. So why not enter online now at www.unishorts.unitec.ac.nz
If your film is selected, it will be screened in competition alongside other selected films at this year's festival on 12-14 September 2014. Your students could win some great prizes!
Last year's winning film 'The Night of their Lives' (St Kentigern College) netted student director Lucas Sachs NZ$1000 in prize-money. He is now studying film in New York. Read full story here:http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/local-news/east-bays-courier/8622985/Teen-film-maker-makes-the-cut
We accept student made short films in the following genres; fiction, documentary, animation, experimental (non-narrative). All films must be under 20 minutes running time. The films have to be entirely student made as part of a course of study and signed off by their school or teacher in charge.
We are close to confirming the full programme for Uni Shorts 2014 and we are planning a session dedicated to Media Studies/Secondary School educators as part of an exciting weekend. Tickets to attend the festival will be on sale in May via our website so make sure you pencil in 12-14 September in your calendar.
"There's been a surge of interest following on from last year's event where we tripled the number of entries from the inaugural year of this event in 2012. We're hoping to receive more student works particularly in the animation, experimental and high school categories. There will be come great prizes so plenty of motivation there for student filmmakers and multimedia artists," says Uni Shorts committee chairperson, Alex Lee.
