The Wiggles Return to NZ
The Apples and Bananas tour, wiggling to a city near you in July 2014
The Wiggles are bringing their new Apples and Bananas show to New Zealand. On July 2, the much-loved children’s entertainers, Anthony, Emma, Lachy and Simon, kick off their tour in Tauranga. In total, the award-winning group will visit 11 New Zealand cities, from Whangarei to Dunedin.
The tour features your favourite Wiggles songs like Hot Potato, Toot Toot! and Do the Propeller; new songs like Wiggle House, as well as hits from the new Apples and Bananas CD and DVD, which is a collection of nursery rhymes favourites. They include This Little Piggy, Pufferbillies and Joanie Works with One Hammer. The fab four of fun are joined on stage by their friends Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus.
In 2013 the energetic group launched its TV series Ready, Steady, Wiggle! on Four Kids, released four CD and DVD titles and spent much of the year touring the world.
Founding member Anthony Field, the Blue Wiggle, says, “We travelled all over the world last year, but there’s nothing like coming to New Zealand - we love the people, the music and seeing the beautiful awe-inspiring landscapes.”
2014 sees The Wiggles launch the second series of Ready, Steady, Wiggle! in which New Zealand’s own Robbie Rakete appears as an honorary Wiggle! Rakete has written and performed a song with The Wiggles called Kia Pai to Rā. The Wiggles Apples and Banana’s Tour follows the extraordinary success of the Australian tour which saw The Wiggles sell out over 100 shows. The inclusion of the first female Wiggle, Emma, has created what one American Journalist dubbed “The Mini-Emma Army!”. Thousands of children are turning up dressed in her iconic bow and yellow Wiggles shirts.
The Apples and Bananas tour will be the only time The Wiggles will tour New Zealand this year, so get your tickets quick, they’ll sell like……Hot Potatoes!
