YouthDance Education Trust, Winners of the 2013 Wellington Airport Regional Community Award for Arts & Culture, is proud to present International Dance Day.
As part of UNESCO’s global celebrations of International Dance Day, we will be holding a day of FREE dance workshops and performances.

Celebrations have been held around the world since 1982 when UNESCO dedicated
29th April International Dance Day. This is the thirteenth year the event is being held in Wellington. International Dance Day is well supported by the dance community and the event acknowledges the diversity of dance styles and civic pride in our multicultural city.
Welcome and warm-up 11am
Mayor Celia Wade-Brown will open the day, followed by a warm-up of music, dance and drumming with Lala Simpson and African Beats NZ.

Performance 3.00 - 4.00pm
Performance on the marae by 10 community dance groups, highlighting the wide range of opportunities for young people to get involved in dance. including: Hip hop, musical theatre, Ethiopian dance, Capoeira, jazz, contemporary dance, Classical Chinese dance, tap and circus.
