Intimate performances of classical and contemporary dance give audiences a first-hand experience of the School.
Seeing NZSD students dance in the studio where they train provides a real insight into these two contrasting techniques and the repertoire they are learning.
Works to be performed include Colas’ variation from La Fille Mal Gardée, choreographed by Alexander Gorsky. NZSD Graduate Martin James is coaching first year classical student Jeremie Gan in this challenging solo, which Jeremie danced to significant acclaim at last year’s Asian Grand Prix in Hong Kong. Also included is Roses from Cinderella: a corps de ballet piece for 10 girls, danced by the 1st year classical women, by special arrangement with the choreographer Christopher Hampson. 3rd year contemporary students will present excerpts from the works being created for the School’sChoreographic Season in May.
Entry is by koha/donation and no booking is required.

And don't forget the students' fundraising effort tomorrow: they have set themselves the unusual fundraising challenge of improvising 1000 dance moves through their one existing door. They’ll dance through the door on the buskers’ stage in Cuba Street, from 1pm on Thursday 10 April.
