Young Kiwi Football Rising Star Secures Nottingham Forest Scholarship
Dylan will join the youth team at Nottingham Forest
Nike New Zealand has revealed that 17-year-old Auckland City player, Dylan Burns, has accepted a two year scholarship with Nottingham Forest, following his placement at the Nike Football Academy in the UK.
Nottingham Forest has recently announced former Forest and England International player, Stuart Pearce as Club Manager, with notable former players including Roy Keane and Nigel Clough. The club has previously won the European Cup (Champions League), and is currently just 2 points off a playoff spot for Premier League football next season. Dylan will join the youth team at Nottingham Forest immediately.
In early March, Dylan competed at Nike’s The Chance program, a one-of-a-kind global football talent search that gives young footballers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of elite coaches and mentors from the top of the sport.
Dylan was one of only five up-and-coming players globally selected to join the Nike Academy. The academy was created to uncover grass roots talent, and pave the way for a professional football career.
“I’m extremely excited by the opportunity to play with Nottingham Forest, and how quickly it has happened,” says Dylan,
“I’m so appreciative of Nike for the role it has played in my development and providing me the opportunity to be noticed by international scouts.”
This opportunity is another positive step for the Auckland local, in paving a professional football career.
