NZ Lions lead the world with lunch
Forget the baton and running shoes; on April 4th New Zealand Lions Clubs will have their knives and forks at the ready
when they launch into the first leg of an international relay that’s all about lunch.
The Lions World Lunch Relay is a 24-hour, international event that focuses on linking communities together on a
worldwide scale.
As New Zealand is the first country to see the sun, Lions Clubs New Zealand will be leading the lunch relay. The relay
will move from time zone to time zone, making its way around the globe and creating a world record for the longest
lunch.
With over 46,000 clubs internationally and 380 Lions Clubs across the New Zealand there’s going to be all sorts of
lunching activities such as picnics, pot-lucks and BBQs.
“If you think about all the different countries where there are Lions Clubs, imagine all the different lunch traditions;
Nepalese, French and American just to name a few!”
David Dawick, executive officer of Lions Clubs New Zealand.
“It’s going to be fun event and we’re excited that we’re opportunity leading this world-wide event,” says Mr Dawick.
