Plenty for kids of all ages at Scale Models Expo in Wellington

New Zealand’s best scale modellers flock to Wellington as the countries largest scale model show comes to Upper Hutt over the weekend of 5-6 April.

Event organiser Ewan Forbes says there will be lots for children of all ages to see and do at the expo.

“It’s not just about a static display, we want to ensure everyone can get involved in the great hobby that is scale modelling”, said Ewan.

“There will be hundreds of scale models of trucks, cars, planes and military equipment on display as well as one of the largest model railway layouts ever seen in public in New Zealand. This year to mark the centenary of the beginning of World War One there will be a special display of models from this tragic era.

“While the best modellers in the country vie for their share of the $5,000 of prizes on offer there will be plenty to keep everyone interested with another $5,000 of free model giveaways for children and building sessions over the weekend.

“We’ve been running the Expo in Wellington since 2001 and it has now attracted an international reputation. Sir Peter Jackson’s World War One model aircraft company Wingnut Wings will be in attendance and holding the world’s premiere of a secret new model. Lucky show attendees will be able to be the first people on the planet to see it and take one home” said Ewan Forbes.
