ATC reprises Pollyhood in Mumuland
This coming school holidays, Auckland Theatre Company will reprise Lauren Jackson's wildly popular family show Polly Hood in Mumuland in partnership with the Mangere Arts Centre Ngā Tohu o Uenuku.
Polly Hood In Mumuland, written by Lauren Jackson, is an hilarious twist on a classic fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood.
Polly's mother commands her to take a basket of goodies to her sick Grandma. But living in West Mumuland means a long
cautious journey to South Mumuland. So with her cousin Maile tagging along they take on the challenge of a roaming wolf,
and tread dangerous territory of singing chickens, talking trees, and Polly's crazy Aunty Sila who has stolen the family
car. Can Polly and Maile make it to Grandma in time?
With a cast lead by south Auckland's freshest talent, Polly Hood In Mumulandis an all-singing, all-dancing musical extravaganza for the whole family. Filled with Pasifika performance styles, hip
hop, dancing trees and plenty of mumus, the classic fairy tale gets a fresh, fun and high-energy edge these school
holidays.
"This kind of show is unique to Auckland - it celebrates and is a tribute to the largest Pacific city in the world,"
says Lynne Cardy, Auckland Theatre Company's Associate Director.
