Following two highly successful charity fashion shows in 2012 and 2013, the art museum will be working once again with designers, fashion students and local businesses towards a runway show and fundraiser for the Whangarei Women's Refuges - Te Puna O Te Aroha Maori Women's Refuge and Tryphina House Women's Refuge. The show will be officially opened by Her Worship the Mayor of Whangarei Sheryl Mai.
This year the art museum is pleased to announce Ian Pritchard as Master of Ceremonies for the runway show.
Lost in Space: The Runway will showcase collections from established local designers who have developed their distinctive style and design approach: Charlotte Davidson, Tracey Harvey, Julie Pyle, Simon Richards, Jessie Rose and Marcia Underwood. This year the art museum has invited fashion students from North Tec to create garments inspired by Len Lye's art work currently on display in the exhibition Lost in Space: Len Lye's unfinished science fiction Quicksilver.
