Christchurch Raw Comedy Finals
For the first time in 20 years Raw Comedy Quest Regional Finalswere held in Christchurch and as a result two comedians are heading to Auckland for the Raw Comedy Quest National Final.
On March 23rd seven finalists competed to be the Raw Comedy Quest winner for Christchurch. After battling out in heats against 17 other comedians on the 2nd and 9th March, both Thane Pullan and David Correos have triumphed in the final at the Twisted Hop in Christchurch.
Thane is the overall winner with David as runner up. The competitors took to the stage in a packed venue and Thane in particular didn’t let the fact that he less able bodied and faces more obstacles in life than most deter him.
Raw Comedy Quest showcased the new face of Christchurch comedy with a diverse range of comedians taking part. Local Raw Comedy Quest organiser Derek Flores is “happy and proud to have these guys as part of the comedy re-build”.
Raw Comedy Quest organiser Scott Blanks says “It’s really exciting to have Christchurch in the competition for the first time in 20 years and due to the quality and success of the Christchurch Raw contest I have decided to take two Finalists rather than one.”
As a result Thane Pullan and David Correos will be in the Grand Final on Sun 11 May at Ranqatira at Q Theatre. As the winner of the event, Thane is being bought up to Auckland for the finals by Scott Blanks to compete in the Raw Comedy Quest National Final.
