Winter Festival forty year celebrations set to soar with Qantas sponsorship
Queenstown, New Zealand (18
March 2014) - American Express Queenstown Winter Festival is
pleased to announce Qantas as a key sponsor for the 2014
Winter Festival in a year that marks forty years since the
event began.
American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Manager, Lisa Buckingham, is thrilled to have Qantas on board to support the Winter Festival on 20-29 June and believes that the partnership will encourage more Australians to attend the fortieth anniversary of the event.
“The Winter Festival has been attracting Australians over the years and this partnership with Qantas will further enhance our ability to raise the profile of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival in the Australian market.
“The fact that a major international brand like Qantas sees great value in the Festival just goes to highlight the quality of the event and we are absolutely delighted to welcome Qantas to our family of sponsors,” Ms Buckingham said.
Qantas’ support of this year’s milestone event coincides with the airlines announcement of additional flights from Australia to Queenstown during the peak ski season.
Qantas Regional General Manager for New Zealand Igor Kwiatkowski said Qantas was pleased to support the festival and fly more Australians to the event.
“We are pleased to be a key supporter of this year’s milestone event and our additional services to Queenstown will mean more Australians can enjoy the festivities,” said Mr Kwiatkowski.
“During the winter period Qantas will add more than 650 seats each week and the additional services will mean greater flexibility and a premium experience for our customers travelling to Queenstown during the ski and Festival season.
The additional* services will be operated by Qantas’ fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft and offer inflight entertainment, food and wine and checked luggage as part of its full service offering. Services will commence on 7 April and finish on 24 October 2014.
To cater for the increase in flights, Jetconnect has commenced with an incremental increase to its current flight training hours in the Queenstown vicinity to ensure operational requirements are ready to cater for a larger number of inbound and outbound flights.
The Qantas Group currently operates more than 200 flights each week between Australia and New Zealand.
