Youth Focused relaunch for gay media’s express
The new express is the voice of the bars of K’ Road, a flash from a high fashion shoot and the wine glasses from the latest opening, the new express is sharp, smart and witty - and one you won't want to miss!
You don’t spend 23 years on top of NZ’s gay media without keeping things fresh! This April express is being redesigned and refocused to offer up a dynamic new website and monthly magazine.
The new site and resized magazine will together proudly walk the streets and screens hand in hand. This union of print and web reflects the metro-lifestyle of the changing face of the GLBTI community and their friends.
With almost twice as many pages and a larger print run, the new express magazine moves from fortnightly rags to monthly riches. From beautiful people and fashion, to art, news and editorials, the new magazine will grace coffee tables for weeks. Packed with interviews, scene snaps, reviews and articles – express crashes the 2014 party with a whole bunch of babes on its arm!
express’ web relaunch features more updates, events and ways to connect.gayexpress.co.nz will be far reaching and more inclusive – both with content and communities.
To get the party started express magazine’s April issue will be knocking back robust Pinots in Ponsonby Central and Mai Tai's in Hawaii – and you could be joining them! Celebrating Hawaii’s legalisation of same-sex marriage and NZ’s first anniversary of the same, express showcases Hawaii and same-sex weddings in their April issue. With free flights to Honolulu (in conjunction with Family Bar and Hawaiian Airlines) up for grabs, advertisers will be eager to jump on board for deals and packages at lower rates than ever.
Having listened to the demands of their ever increasing young audience, express has answered their requests with the relaunch aimed at the post-modern GLBTI community. Recruited from London, Oliver Hall returns to spearhead the new look. “We are giving our readers what they asked for. A more visual magazine and website constantly updated with all the latest celebrity news from here and overseas and a bevy of hot pictures from local talent to the hunks of the world. express has dominated for 23 years because it has constantly moved with the times. This is the biggest make-over the magazine and website have ever had which reflects the evolution of our community in these post-marriage equality times. We also want to celebrate what makes New Zealand, and Auckland in particular, such a special place here in the South Pacific." Says Hall.
In their new offices located about the bars on the pulse of Ponsonby Road, Hall is joined by young entrepreneurial Business Manager Regan Cotter and cutting-edge designer Amy Jane Todd.
For the rainbow and beyond, express magazine and express digital will be live and lushious from 1 April 2014.
