Ford New Zealand’s Team True Blue Zephyr Rides Again
Ford managing director helms 24th year helping Kiwi kids in need
Ford New Zealand’s Team True Blue is readying to embark on the 24rd Annual Variety Trillian Bash, which leaves Auckland on 16 March with its new managing director at the wheel.
American export Corey Holter has got right behind the Bash, which helps sick, disabled or disadvantaged kids in need of a hand-up.
The Variety Trillian Bash is a week -long road trip with a colorful and creative collection of vehicles and people that travel visiting schools, families and communities, distributing grants and donations, and working on projects to help those local communities.
Holter – more used to the brand’s new models – will take the helm of the 1963 Zephyr for the first few days then hand over to Long time Basher and True Blue Team Captain, Ford New Zealand Sales Manager Melissa Rushton.
Holter is in for a treat, for this year’s Bash will meander around the North Island, leaving Rainbow’s End in Auckland on March 16 and winding down to and around both coasts, via Waitomo and Bennydale, Rotorua and Kaiangaroa, Waikaremoana and Gisborne, then the East Cape and back to Tauranga for March 22.
He’ll get to know more about New Zealand’s heartland and Ford New Zealand’s focus on hands-on help for Kiwi battlers, getting out to the communities and being directly involved at a grassroots level to making a difference you can see. “It’s also a good way for staff and dealers to get involved.”
Rushton says the Bash is all about getting stuck in and making a difference.
“It’s a great way for Ford to get out to communities and support local children, families and schools, including those in some of the more remote areas of New Zealand,” she says. “As a participant, you play a direct role in making a difference in people’s lives. It’s also a lot of fun! Ford is really proud to have been a supporter of Variety - The Children’s Charity for 24 years now.”
This year also sees the return of Team True Blue II, piloted by Ford dealers and dealership staff. Team True Blue II’s 1990 Ford Fairlane will grace the New Zealand roads alongside the original Team True Blue’s mighty Zephyr.
