Funds Raised At Springsteen Concerts Exceed All Expectations

Funds Raised At Springsteen Concerts Exceed Expectations

Over $24,000 raised in total, courtesy of Bruce Springsteen

Auckland City Mission was Springsteen’s charity of choice

All donations will go to further the work of the Auckland City Mission

Auckland City Mission raised a total of $22,326.73 at both Bruce Springsteen gigs held at Auckland’s Mt Smart stadium on Saturday, 1 and Sunday, 2 March.

Together with the $2000 raised from the online auction of four VIP double passes donated to the Mission by the legendary rocker, the City Mission has banked a whopping $24,326-73 to go towards furthering its work among Aucklanders in desperate need.

“The funds raised courtesy of Mr Springsteen exceeded our wildest expectations, and we are extremely grateful that the renowned musician chose the City Mission as his preferred charity – especially given Mr Springsteen’s commitment to a range of charitable causes, including food banks,” said Diane Robertson, Auckland City Missioner.

Ms Robertson pointed out that the generous donations from the High Hopes concerts and the money raised from the online auction will be critical in helping the Mission to continue providing its services, including food banks, emergency food parcels, healthcare, and homeless support, to thousands of Aucklanders who have nowhere else to turn.

“I want to sincerely thank Mr Springsteen and the E Street Band for donating the four double passes to be auctioned, as well as giving the Mission the opportunity to collect much-needed donations at the performances. I also want to thank all the City Mission volunteers who gave up their valuable time and worked long hours to help collect donations. Our volunteers’ contribution was vital to the successful outcome of the fundraising effort,” said Ms Robertson.

She added: “From all the support the Mission received from Mr Springsteen’s management, to the singer’s on-stage shout-out to the City Mission to the enthusiasm and generosity of our volunteers, and the capacity crowds, this may have been one of the smoothest and most profitable collection events we have ever had."
