The Big Easy Cycle Event is back for 2014
Hawke’s Bay’s cycle event “The Big Easy” is to be held again this Easter Weekend on Saturday 19th April.
Developed and implemented by Hawke’s Bay Tourism, Hastings District Council, Napier City Council, Hawke’s Bay Regional Council and Sport Hawke’s Bay, The Big Easy is the regions signature cycle event developed to profile the Hawke’s Bay Trails.
The Big Easy will start at Havelock North Village Green at 10am, finishing at Church Road Winery in Taradale. The event route is 45km in length and is designed to showcase the Hawke’s Bay Trails and its many attractions and hospitality stops along the way. Registered riders will have access to plenty of hot deals along the way so they can enjoy everything the Hawke’s Bay Trails have to offer.
A concert at Church Road Winery will wrap up the day, headlined by New Zealand music legends Rikki Morris, Annie Crummer and Jackie Clarke with local favourites Naked Gun and Power also on the line-up.
New Zealand comedian and TV celebrity Ben Hurley returns as the official Big Easy ambassador and will officially launch the ride before setting off on to ride the route. Hurley said he was looking forward to coming back. “I had a blast last time checking out the awesome Hawke’s Bay cycle trails, not to mention the good fun mixing and mingling with all the riders along the way.”
Hawke’s Bay Tourism General Manager Annie Dundas said “We are delighted to be hosting this event for 2014. Last year over 1000 people enjoyed The Big Easy which was a fantastic number of people to have as ambassadors for the Hawke’s Bay Trails. The event attracted a significant number of visitors from out of town which is a key outcome of the Regional Events Strategy, as is holding one major cycling event per year in Hawke’s Bay”
Riders can pre-register at www.thebigeasy.co.nz Adult entry is $25 and Children $10. Entrants receive a Big Easy T-shirt, entry to the concert and access to the special deals and discounts on the Big Easy route.
