Partnership recognised with award nomination
(Tuesday March 4) A partnership that spans more than 10 programmes and events has seen Sport Southland and BNZ recognised at a national level for their ommercial partnership.
Sport Southland and BNZ are finalists in the Commercial Partnership category of this year’s New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards; a nomination Sport Southland chief executive Brendon McDermott is delighted with.
“We have been working closely with BNZ for the past four years, across a wide range of programmes and events and to have that partnership recognised at this level is fantastic,” he “The key strength is that it is a real partnership, rather than a sponsorship. BNZ staff volunteer at a number of our events, we join with them in their Closed for Good day and there is a real connection of values between the organisations.”
“To have that partnership recognised by being a finalist in the New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards really shows the strength of our relationship.”
BNZ supports a wide range of
community-based programmes and events run by Sport
Southland, including the BNZ Surf to City –
Southland’s largest participation-based event –, the BNZ
Workplace Challenge and the BNZ Aerobics and Hip Hop
Festival amongst up to seven other initiatives and
programmes primarily designed to encourage more Southlanders
to get involved in sport, recreation or physical
activity.
The latest addition to the partnership is the purchase of an activity trailer – a trailer filled with equipment designed to encourage children to take part in active play – which features both Sport Southland and BNZ branding.
BNZ Senior Partner Jared Stockman said BNZ staff engagement in the partnership with Sport Southland was excellent.
“Our respective teams share many of the same interests and values and BNZ staff love to get involved, whether it be volunteering at some of the events that we support, in addition to many of our staff and their families actively participating in events,” he said.
“We are thrilled to be involved with Sport Southland, an organisation that reaches the entire Southland region through a wide range of programmes and events that benefit the whole The New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards will be celebrated on April 14, in Finalists and more information on the awards can be found here: http://
