There’ll be something for everyone as Hollard Gardens celebrates Taranaki Anniversary Day with a Harvest Festival next Monday (10 March).
The Kaponga heritage property’s Main Lawn will be transformed into a giant fairground for the day, with attractions including:
• Competitions for all the family -
best-dressed and carved pumpkin, animal vegetable creation,
funkiest scarecrow, best summer hat and
more.
• Producers selling homegrown vege and fruit,
local bush honey, seed swapping, chutneys, pickles and
jams.
• Stalls featuring original sculpture and
ceramics, driftwood creations, craft and trinkets, handmade
birdfeeders, harakeke and garden art
• Food including
cupcakes, coffee, gelatos, and Mexican barritos, barbecues
and more.
• Live music including the funky Latin sounds
of Sonic Delusion.
• Pony rides, bouncy castle, stilts
and the famous Hollard Gardens playground, where kids enjoy
hours of fun.
“It will to be a fantastic fun day for all,” says the Taranaki Regional Council’s Regional Gardens Manager, Greg Rine. “It’s also a chance to check out the new Hollard Centre, where garden visitors can learn more about the property and where community groups can host events.”
The Harvest Festival runs from 11am to 2pm at Hollard Gardens, 1686 Upper Manaia Road, Kaponga. It is part of a year-round programme at Hollard Gardens, Pukeiti and Tupare, the three heritage properties owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region. All three are open daily and entry is free.
