AA Insurance scores NRL referee sponsorship

Supporting NRL referees to keep things sorted on the field this season

Auckland – 3 March 2014 – New Zealand’s most trusted insurer, AA Insurance is delighted to announce their sponsorship of the Holden Cup and NRL Telstra Premiership referees during New Zealand home matches this season.

“We are proud to have a major New Zealand company like AA Insurance join our family of sponsors”, said NRL Head of Football Operations, Todd Greenberg.

“Coming off the back of the NRL Auckland Nines competition, the excitement and atmosphere in New Zealand makes this the perfect time to announce this great partnership.”

The sponsorship will see the AA Insurance logo printed on the official NRL Telstra Premiership referee kit, as well as on the side-line touch judge’s flags at all New Zealand home games this season. Referees will sport their new kit for the first time on Saturday 15 March, when the Warriors play the Dragons at Eden Park in Auckland.

“A good referee gets things sorted and stays close to the action until that happens”, said Chris Curtin, Chief Executive, AA Insurance. “As a keen Rugby League fan, I’ve seen the pressures a referee comes under during the heat of a match, but the NRL refs always stay committed to fair play and getting the game moving again. We’d like to think we bring these kinds of values into play for our customers.”

AA Insurance will announce plans to provide a unique experience linked to the sponsorship of NRL referees in New Zealand over the coming months.
