Voting starts for favourite neighbourhood groups
Communities across New Zealand start voting tomorrow to help their favourite neighbourhood groups get a share of $1 million that’s up for grabs in Z Energy’s Good in the Hood programme.
Good in the Hood contributes more than $1 million to hundreds of neighbourhood groups and projects that help people who need it and that matter most to New Zealand’s local communities.
Every Z station in New Zealand is supporting four neighbourhood groups this March – these groups will receive a share of $4000 per station based on the voting of Z customers. Each station has also set aside another $1000 to support other local projects and initiatives throughout the year.
Every customer making a purchase at a Z station between 1 March and 31 March (excluding cigarette only purchases) will be given a token, which they can use to vote in store for the organisation they wish to support, via the voting boxes on site.
After March, the votes will be tallied, results will be announced and the cheques will be presented to the groups.
Customers can also hunt for virtual tokens and vote online via z.co.nz/TokenHunt – the ten groups that get the most online votes nationwide will receive even more funding. There’ll also be lots of instant prizes up for grabs for customers via Token Hunt.
Z’s General Manager of Retail, Mark Forsyth, says Good in the Hood is about neighbourhoods deciding how they want the Z community funding distributed.
“We’re taking a truly local approach, letting our customers decide what matters to them most,” said Mark.
He said Z was impressed by the passion and commitment demonstrated by so many neighbourhood groups, and was pleased to be able to support the work they’re doing.
“Good in the Hood will make a real difference in neighbourhoods across New Zealand. It’s one way we’re choosing to live our brand promise that Z really is for New Zealand,” said Mark.
A list of all the neighbourhood groups being supported nationwide through Good in the Hood can be found atz.co.nz/find-us.
