Happy Childrens Day from Barnardos New Zealand
This Sunday (2 March) is Children’s Day, with the theme ‘Treasure our Children’. Barnardos believes all children should
be treasured, and this informs the services we provide for thousands of New Zealand children and their families/whānau
every year.
Chief Executive Jeff Sanders said, “Children’s Day is a great opportunity to do something special for the children in
your life and show them how valued they are. Spend time with them, give them a treat, do something fun – maybe head to
one of the Children’s Day events around the country. At Barnardos, we work to make Aotearoa New Zealand the best place
to be a child, and Children’s Day is an important reminder of how precious our smallest citizens are and how they need
to be nurtured, valued and respected.”
To celebrate Children’s Day, Barnardos got Si-Fi, a 16-year-old duo from Taradale High School in Napier, to write a
special song. The video was shot at the Barnardos KidStart Childcare Early Learning Centre in Hastings, and the children
