3rd New Zealand Hindu Youth Conference
3rd National Hindu Youth Conference, with the “Dynamic You – The Power of Youth” will be held on Saturday, 1st March at the Aotea Centre in Auckland.
It is an exciting time for Hindu Youth New Zealand and New Zealand Hindu Students Forum to be coming together for the
National Hindu youth conference at the commencement of the 2014 academic year. Once again Hindu youth have come together
to create an opportunity for young people to get motivated, be inspired and advance towards empowerment.
“Challenges and obstacles come in many sizes, shapes and forms. What appears to be a mammoth task for one individual may
seem trivial for another. It is perspectives that make a difference in how one approaches these situations. When
approached with positivity, new ideas and energy, every task can be broken down to bite-size pieces. This dynamic nature
and power within has to be recognised by each one of us to help us climb our individual Mount Everest’s daily”, said
Nitika Sharma, coordinator of the 3rd Hindu youth conference and president of Hindu Youth New Zealand.
Conference registrations coordinator, Ms Priti Chand, first year university student reported that the team have received
overwhelming response and, the event reached maximum capacity on Monday, five days prior to the event. “We are looking
forward to a good turnout” added Ms Chand.
Presenters at the conference are exceptionally high achievers in their respective areas of work. They will share their
successes and challenges on the day and inspire young people to take “go for it”. Invitations have also been extended to
various community leaders,
various government agencies and leaders of New Zealand’s two leading political parties, to convey their message to young
people.
Preliminary findings from most recent census is indicating that Hindu is the third largest following in New Zealand
(after Christianity and Atheism), a population of 89 000 in spread throughout New Zealand. This figure is an increase of
almost 16 000 since 2006. Indian population in New Zealand has increased by 50 000 over the same period. Census also
revealed that Hindi is now the fourth most commonly spoken language in the country. This conference will highlight the
contribution of this significant population to their country, New Zealand.
The conference organising committee are looking forward to an inspiring, stimulating, engaging and fun filled event.
