Monumental fundraising continues
The Ashburton Art Gallery in conjunction with the Regent Cinema are hosting a fundraising night not to be missed. The Gallery is continuing with its efforts to raise funds for the fixtures and fittings of the new building and the Regent are supporting their efforts in ‘monumental’ ways.
The film night which will take place on Thursday 13th March will kick off at 7pm at the cinema and will consist of a screening of the highly anticipated film The Monuments Men directed by George Clooney.
Regarded as “the greatest treasure hunt in history” the film is based on a book by Robert M. Edsel and the true story of the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives program (MFAA) which was established in 1943 under the Civil Affairs and Military Government Sections of the Allied armies to help protect art and other cultural property in war areas during and after World War II.
The stellar cast includes George Clooney, Matt Damon, Hugh Bonneville, Bill Murray and Cate Blanchett to name a few and will no doubt impress viewers. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the Gallery. Light refreshments will be provided as part of the event.
