Team NZ - First day of the Extreme Sailing Singapore
February 21 2014
Emirates Team New Zealand finished the first day of the Extreme Sailing Singapore regatta fourth overall.
With two wins in the eight races sailed, Dean Barker and crew (Glenn Ashby, James Dagg, Jeremy Lomas and Edwin Delaat) are well placed in the 12-boat fleet.
Sitting on 46 points, they are only two shy of third and second placed teams and 10 from the leader. They started and finished the day with a win.
Fortunes fluctuated for every team in the very shifty breeze that was a light four to 10 knots.
Barker: “We had good results in the first few races, then faded a little finishing towards the back of the fleet and returned to win the last race.”
“After the tough racing on practice day we knew we were in for a battle this week. We have to work on consistency and eliminating mistakes.”
