A HELL of a Choice for this year’s Children’s Book Awards

A HELL of a Choice for this year’s LIANZA Children’s Book Awards

The Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (LIANZA) is pleased to announce Hell Pizza as the principal sponsor of the 2014 LIANZA Children’s Book Awards.

LIANZA President Laurinda Thomas is excited by the opportunity. “A partnership with Hell Pizza will allow us to bring increased recognition to the high quality children’s writing being produced in New Zealand.

“Librarians are so passionate about children’s literature and connecting children to the right book and working with HELL will allow us reach a whole new audience of readers and book lovers.”

Hell Pizza general manager Ben Cumming says they are thrilled to be working with LIANZA and New Zealand libraries.

“Supporting a healthy community is central to our business philosophy,” said Ben. “Be it through creating healthy food options, supporting sports and volunteer organisations, charities or even just individuals that are having a hard time, we’re committed to giving back.

“The Children’s Book Awards is a brilliant opportunity for us to support the promotion of literacy as an essential skill, reading as a rewarding pastime and libraries as wonderful community resources,” he said.

The LIANZA Children’s Book Awards have a long history and include the LIANZA Esther Glen Award for junior fiction – the oldest award for children’s fiction in New Zealand. Notable prize winners have included Margaret Mahy, Joy Cowley, Maurice Gee, and Mandy Hager.

Entries for the LIANZA Children’s Book Awards are now open and the winners will be announced on 11th August 2014.
