TRN’s Coast Compilation CD Goes to Number One
15 February 2014 – The accolades continue for The Radio Network’s (TRN) New Zealand’s number one radio station Coast^. Coast’s compilation CD, ‘Coast Love the Music’, in its first week has debuted at number one on the Top 40 National Chart and The Warehouse Top 20.
“For Coast’s compilation CD to go to number one on The Warehouse Top 20 in only its first few days on sale, ahead of Grammy winner Lorde’s Pure Heroine CD is simply incredible. The passion people have for Coast is really quite overwhelming,” says Raylene Ramsay, Coast’s Content Director.
Over 277,000 listeners a week in 16 regions throughout the country have discovered Coast, earning its status as the most loved radio station overall in the 10+ year old age group, from the TNS New Zealand Commercial Survey 2/2013 released in October 2013.
“The compilation CD concept came from Coast listeners. They are always asking us for music they can buy that represents what they love to hear on Coast every day. The two disc set CD allows even more ways for them to enjoy the music they grew up with and can sing along to,” says Ramsay.
The ‘Coast Love the Music’ CD is a collaboration between Coast and Sony Music.
“The fact the CD has debuted at number one nationally on the Top 40 chart in just its first week of sales is a brilliant result for both Coast and Sony Music. We are thrilled with this exciting partnership,” says Scott Morrison, Sony Music’s Director of Strategy Marketing.
This is Coast’s fourth compilation CD and it can be purchased through The Warehouse, JB Hi Fi and on iTunes.
With another number one under its belt, it can be safely assumed a fifth compilation CD will sure to be on the horizon.
