Doctor Who exhibition materialises in Wellington
Celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who at Capital E’s new Queens Wharf space in February
Doctor Who fever is taking hold at Capital E Central, 4 Queens Wharf with a free exhibition following on from the 50th
Anniversary celebrations of the world’s longest-running sci-fi television series and complementing the Doctor Who
Symphonic Spectacular at the TSB Arena.
The series comes to life in Capital E’s exhibition Doctor Who: Celebrating 50 Years of Adventure in Space and Time with a display of original and replica props from the iconic show’s history including Tom Baker’s scarf, William
Hartnell’s cane, and a TARDIS. Visitors will also be able to come face-to-face with a Dalek - one of the Doctor’s most
terrifying enemies.
The New Zealand Festival and BBC Worldwide Australia and New Zealand are presenting the exhibition at Capital E Central
in celebration of five decades of the Doctor.
Crafty visitors can leave their mark by knitting a section of an extra-long Tom Baker-esque scarf that will be created
by fans throughout the exhibition.

delighted to partner with our friends at NZ Festival and BBC Worldwide Australia and New Zealand in celebration of this
amazing show’s history and of course, its exciting future.”
Christmas Day saw the 800th episode of the iconic series and Wellington is the next stop in the Australia and New
Zealand tour that has taken the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular to Melbourne and Brisbane, following sold-out performances at the Sydney Opera House in 2012.
The exhibition is free of charge and suitable for all ages and is a companion for the BBC’s smash hit Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular, a performance of composer Murray Gold’s captivating music by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The show is hosted by
the legendary Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison and will see the TSB Bank Arena overrun by Doctor Who monsters including the spine-chilling Silence, awe-inspiring Cybermen, and the infamous Daleks.

Queens Wharf from 21 February to 12 April 2014, Mon-Sat 10am-4pm, with specially extended opening hours around the
Symphonic Spectacular. A range of licensed Doctor Who merchandise will be available at Capital E Central.
