Due to overwhelming public demand to view Mr Wigan’s work, ANZ is opening an exhibition of the astonishing artworks to the public.
Public exhibition
View Willard Wigan’s extraordinary tiny pieces on Friday 14 February from 10 – 4pm, at the ANZ Centre Pavilion, 23 – 29 Albert Street, Auckland City.
Many of Mr Wigan’s micro sculptures are housed in the eyes of needles, requiring a microscope as the sculptures are invisible to the naked eye. To create these amazing sculptures, Mr Wigan enters a meditative state in which his heartbeat is slowed, allowing him to reduce hand tremors and sculpt between beats.
The works travelling to New Zealand include a recreation of the Last Supper, childhood fictional character Pinocchio, a floating hummingbird and the evolution of man, to name a Fred Ohlsson, Managing Director Retail and Business Banking, says that ANZ is thrilled to be bringing such an acclaimed artist to New Zealand, for the first time. “Willard is an extraordinary person and his work really has to be seen to be believed.
“He takes what seems monumental, and reduces it to something simple and easy to
understand, which is what our experts throughout New Zealand help our customers with every day.
“Kiwis make a number of significant financial decisions throughout their lives. Whether it’s buying a property, saving for retirement or protecting what’s important, we’re here to help make those monumental decisions smaller and simpler.”
