A first class journey through Motown
Two world class vocal quartets from the United States join up to create one of the foremost journeys through 60’s Detroit and it’s cornerstone in American music history. Songs In The Key of Motown unites renowned musicians Spectrum and Radiance, performing four shows across New Zealand this March.
Paying tribute to the soul, disco and rhythm & blues era of Berry Gordy’s iconic record label, the faithful vocalists bring to life songs from such important acts as The Four Tops, The Supremes, Martha & The Vandellas, The Marvelettes and many more from an incredible musical era.
Spectrum have spent six stellar years recreating the sound and style of the Four Tops in Las Vegas' multi-million dollar productions "American Superstars" and "Legends In Concert". Spectrum has developed a versatility to credibly cover music that range from groups such as The Platters to The Temptations to Boyz II Men. It is this versatility that has propelled them to headlining their own shows performing stirring renditions of the classics they’ve selected.
Spectrum boasts four incredible singers, each with the voice of a solo artist, who combine their voices and dexterity to create the angelic harmonies and deft choreography that have become their trademark. Master recording artist Darryl Grant of Oakland, California, Chicago-born musician and versatile entertainer Pierre Jovan, David Prescott - the silky-smooth, soaring-voiced first tenor from Rochester, New York and singer, actor and group founder Cushney Roberts, from East Orange, New Jersey, who left the life of a Princeton-educated corporate engineer and cut his teeth in the casino lounges in route to becoming a well-respected Las Vegas showroom entertainer.
Radiance features seasoned Broadway and Television actress Wendy Edmead, former New York Radio City Music Hall Rockette MarQue Munday, former member of the 90's chart-topping recording group Lace Vivian Ross and singer, dancer and entertainer Crystal Robinson. Together they provide an array of talent that is the best in entertainment leaving audiences wanting more!
Songs In The Key Of Motown’s costuming, choreography, harmonies, energy and excitement are second to none – and guaranteed to have New Zealand audience dancing in the street post-event!
