Hanley Makes Solid SuperTourer Debut
Chris Hanley enjoyed a solid debut in the BNT SuperTourer series over the weekend at Manfeild - bagging two top ten finishes from three races.
The 23 year old finished 12th in his first race, before recording eighth and ninth place finishes in Sunday's two races. In each race he improved his pace and by the last third of the final race was one of the quickest drivers in the field. The 2013 UDC V8 Ute champion felt his ninth place in the 25 lap feature race could have been even better.
"In the final race we started from P10, got caught up in a few battles which slowed me down and didn't allow me to progress. We had a lot more pace and I think we deserved to finish higher up, but crossed the line P9. Even so, I had a great first weekend in SuperTourers. A big thanks to Mark, Garry and the team at PSR West for allowing all this to happen."
Greg Murphy continued his perfect run for 2014 with three SuperTourer race wins over the weekend at the NZ Grand Prix meeting, with only Simon Evans challenging with two second places and a third.
Hanley, PSR West and the rest of the 201 BNT V8 SuperTourer field now move onto Pukekohe on March for Round 3 of the series, a circuit where he has recorded several top drawer wins in V8 Utes over the past three seasons.
Hanley's 2014 campaign in SuperTourers is supported by The Sound FM, Placemakers Cook Street, Milwaukee, PIC Insurance, AC Diggers, The Mad Butcher, Ferndale Farms, Puke Coal, Fuchs, Redline Signwriters, BOC, Walthall Ward Chartered Accountants, Chiropractic First and Webdesign.
