Sacred Hill Auckland Festival

Published: Tue 4 Feb 2014 06:28 PM
Sacred Hill Vineyards will present this year’s Annual Fine Arts Commission for the Auckland Festival of Photography.
The Annual Fine Arts Commission sits at the heart of the Auckland Festival of Photography programme and is New Zealand’s only annual commission of a photographic artwork by a fine arts photographer. The Commission provides an opportunity to showcase an Auckland photographic talent and creates an important cultural and artistic asset for present and future Auckland audiences to enjoy.
Sacred Hill Managing Director David Mason says the company is delighted to sponsor the Annual Fine Arts Commission and help the festival support and promote emerging photographic talent.
“It takes a combination of talent, belief and hard work to follow artistic passion. That resonates with us as it reflects the way we approach winemaking,” Mr Mason says. “We relish the opportunity to support this type of endeavour and to help artists bring their work to a broader audience.”
“We wish the short listed candidates all the best and look forward to working with the commissioned artist and festival organisers to help make this year’s event a great success.”
The short listed candidates for the 2014 Annual Fine Arts Commission are Tanu Gago, Qiane Matata-Sipa and Raymond Sagapolutele.
The winner of the commission will be announced in March and the Annual Fine Arts Commission opens in June in Silo 6 on Auckland’s waterfront.
The Auckland Festival of Photography is a signature visual arts event that celebrates a city abundant with great photographic talent. This annual festival is New Zealand's largest photographic event with a programme featuring a multitude of exhibitions and events. The annual festival, now in its eleventh year, encourages people to celebrate the art of photography thanks to dozens of exhibitions and events throughout the Auckland region, including professionally curated exhibitions in leading institutions and gallery spaces. This year’s programme will run from 29 May to 20 June.
