Langman Set To Play 100th Consecutive Test Match
Silver Fern Laura Langman will play her 100th consecutive Test Match for New Zealand on Tuesday January 21st (NZ time) against England in London.
Langman will become just the third Silver Fern in history to reach the milestone, with Lesley Rumball (nee Nicol - 110 test caps) and Irene van Dyk (145 NZ test caps) the only other players to celebrate reaching their centennial test matches.
Netball New Zealand President Sheryl, Lady Wells says the achievement is remarkable given that Langman hasn’t ever missed a test match for the Silver Ferns since her debut in March 2005.
“I have been fortunate over the last nine years to watch as Laura Langman has developed from a talented young netballer into a formidable opponent for all opposition and a ‘rock’ for her team mates.”
“Laura’s self-motivation and thoroughly professional approach along with her obvious talent has cemented her as a permanent fixture in each test selection,” she said.
“She’s a joy to watch, her passion for Netball and the silver fern is obvious and her skill, speed and athleticism stand her apart.”
The 27 year old is a disciplined and competitive person both on and off the court, holding a degree in accounting and juggling her career in the Waikato with that of a high-profile semi-professional elite athlete.
Langman made her debut against the number three-ranked English team nine years ago and also played her milestone 50th and 75th tests against them.
The Test Match between England and the Silver Ferns featuring Laura Langman will be broadcast live on SKY Sport 2 from 8.00am.
