Charlotte Yates Live
Featuring Gil Eva Craig
As part of the AUCKLAND PRIDE FESTIVAL 2014 Feb 6 - 23
Acclaimed NZ singer songwriter Charlotte Yates is set to perform at three Auckland Pride Festival events this February; Auckland Pride Gala at Q Theatre on Friday 7th, her first full length solo Auckland performance featuring material from her latest album Archipelago at Bar Tabac on Saturday 8th and as part of the 2014 line-up forThe Big Gay Out at Coyle Park Sunday 9th.
These performances are to coincide with the release of her second single Falling Down from her sixth solo studio album, Archipelago (May 2013).
“Archipelago rewards repeat-play...4 out of 5 stars." Graham Reid, NZ Herald
Audiences at each performance will have the chance to hear the single alongside other tracks from the most recent release - including the gorgeous acoustic Hold Your Heart and the gritty rocker Stains Your Heart.
Yates will be joined by award winning song designer, audio engineer and producer Gil Eva Craig for all three Auckland performances. Gil Eva Craig worked on Archipelago; fleshing out songs, bringing a lush, at times almost eerie, electronic texture and depth to Yates’ songs.
Over her 23 year career Yates - a member of the NZ iconic comic folk group When the Cat's Been Spayed - has been an APRA Silver Scroll finalist for her single Red Letter (Queen Charlotte Sounds, 1991), toured extensively around the country, and has performed at Festivals in New Zealand and abroad. Yates has also produced and co-ordinated numerous compilation albums of music set to the words of some of our greatest writers and poets; James K Baxter (Baxter, 2000), Hone Tuwhare (Tuwhare, 2007), and Witi Ihimaera (Ihimaera, 2011), while also producing the documentary Ihimaera for Maori Television in August 2011.
Archipelago is released throughout New Zealand by Universal Music.
