The Auckland Pride Galapops the champagne-cork this Feb 7th to toast the start of the fortnight longAuckland Pride Festival 2014.
Raise your glasses, as we announce that the magnificentAlison Mau will be hosting the premiere, black tie, dress-up occasion in the glamorous surroundings of the recently refurbishedQ Theatre.
This year’s Gala is being directed by award-winning director, writer and actorLexie Matheson to recapture the magic of the fin de siècle cabaret scene in pre-war Europe.
Le Jeu de Méchant – The Wicked Game will preview the very best of the 2014 Auckland Pride Festival in all its rainbow-coloured facets. It’s a sampler of treats to tempt and tantalize, a supreme distillation of talent, and a dazzling display of theatrical diversity!
The evening will feature special Gala guest performances to thrill and delight from sensual circus-theatre companyThe Dust Palace, as well as the return of everybody’s favourite erotic burlesque troupe,In Flagrante.
Provocative performers from the 2014 festival programme will includeCharlotte Yates,Mikaand the fabulousKita Mean, plus seductive excerpts fromSongs For Guy,Queenby Sam Brooks andThe Legacy Project.
