New Zealanders will see 2015 Chunuk Bair service live
NZ On Air has awarded Maori Television a contract for the live TV coverage of the historically significant Anzac Day 2015 commemorative service at Chunuk Bair in Turkey.
25 April 2015 will mark the centenary of the start of the Gallipoli campaign, in which 2721 New Zealanders died.
Late last year, in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, NZ On Air issued an RFP for proposals to provide a live television broadcast from the New Zealand commemorative service to be held at Chunuk Bair on Anzac Day 2015.
“Maori Television will present hosted live coverage of this historic occasion. This is an excellent outcome that will ensure New Zealanders have free live coverage of a service that remembers events and people who have shaped our nation,” said NZ On Air Chief Executive Jane Wrightson.
A live feed of the service (without Maori Television’s commentary) will be available to other broadcasters and online media.
Maori Television will also provide coverage from the 2014 service at Chunuk Bair.
