Mysterious Stranger Presents
Frequency
Things have been a littlestrange lately.
TVs on the fritz.
Emails arriving scrambled.
And Sylvia Blake’s disappeared.
It doesn’t add up… Does it?
Can you find Sylvia Blake?
Are you bold enough?
Frequency is an interactive adventure that starts at Understudy at BATS Theatre, on the corner of Cuba & Dixon Streets, and roams the streets of Wellington.
Bring walking shoes and your charged-up phone!
7pm February 11/12/13, 18/19/20, 25/26/27.
Book online www.bats.co.nz or call (04) 802 4175.
Tickets $15, Concession $12, Addict $10.50 Artist $10.50 Director: Leonie Reynolds Written by: Leonie Reynolds and Michael Foster Frequency is an immersive theatre show that takes a small audience (only ten people per evening) on a self-guided adventure through the streets of Wellington, where they will encounter characters, be texted by mysterious forces, and perhaps have a chance to save the world.
Writer/director Leonie Reynolds’s background is in film, but she has a longstanding interest in theatre (her documentary about playwright Jo Randerson, Disappear in Light, played in the Documentary Edge festival).
Leonie wanted to create a show where the stars are the audience.
“Frequency is quite experimental – literally – we’re trying out some ideas that haven’t been done before, as far as we know, and seeing how far we can take an audience."
Cowriter Michael Foster is very comfortable with interactivity and the new direction theatre’s going in – he’s a member of Wellington’s adventurous LARP (Live Action Role Play) community, where costumed players engage in spectacular, completely immersive dramas that have been storylined by LARP writers like himself.
A number of talented members of the LARP community will be drawing on their immersive backgrounds to bring characters to life in the show.
Frequency is boldly going where no theatre has gone before… are you bold enough to follow?
