Sacha Jones and Artem Sitak confirmed as wildcards for NZ Festival of Tennis
After the finals of the NZ Tennis Championships yesterday at the Albany Tennis Centre, the NZ Festival of Tennis is pleased to announce two new wildcards for the ASB Classic and Heineken Open qualifying draws – world number 291, Sacha Jones, and NZ number two, Artem Sitak.
In addition to the honour of being crowned national champions, the winners of the NZ Tennis Championships received qualifying wildcards for the ASB Classic and Heineken Open. Jones’ defeat of NZ number two, Dianne Hollands yesterday, secured her a spot; while Sitak took out New Zealand number one Rubin Statham in straight sets, becoming the national champion for the second time in his career.
The ASB Classic qualifying rounds begin this Saturday 28 December, at the ASB Tennis Arena.
The Heineken Open qualifying rounds begin next Saturday 4 January, at the Albany Tennis Park.
