Less than 48 hours left to Santa-safe your home

Less than 48 hours left to Santa-safe your home

Kiwis, don't let your home gain infamy by being the house where Santa trips and falls this Christmas Eve!

Check out the video that Santa recorded, showing you how to make your home safer for his visit on Tuesday night - it's not too late!

The video is on the homepage of ACC's website, at

www.acc.co.nz, and is also on youtube, so share it with your friends, to help ensure Santa makes a safe entry and exit at all the houses he visits.

Santa took special leave from his workshop to fly to New Zealand to record the clip, but as you'll see, he had time for a quick dip in the sea before heading back to the North Pole.

As for what Dancer was doing in the street when Santa landed in Kiwi suburbia, well, that's anyone's guess.

Each year, ACC receives around 670,000 claims for injuries that happen in the home, with around 290,000 of these involving falls. So given the huge number of homes Santa will be visiting tomorrow night, we need to ensure they're all as safe as possible.

This isn't hard to do. In his video, Santa offers simple tips such as:

• Make sure there's good lighting, especially outdoors and on stairs

• Fasten loose rugs to the floor

• Wipe up spills as soon as they happen

• Run power cords along the wall, not across the floor

• Clear away toys and clutter from walkways

The good news is, by following these tips, you'll not only make your home safer for Santa - you'll make it safer for everyone this Christmas.
