A Three-Way Engagement This Waitangi Day!
Mika Haka Foundation presents
AROHA MARDI GRAS/SALON MIKA/DAWN CEREMONY
Across Auckland on Waitangi Day 2014.
Embarking on three shows in one day, Mika’s Waitangi Day is set to be an incredibly busy one as his all-stars take over Okahu Bay and then Galatos Live for the 3rd Aroha Mardi Gras in 2014!
Turning up the unity on February 6th, Mika lets loose his latest assortment of future stars, unleashing three events – kicking off with the Maori Dawn Ceremony from 6am. This free (and safe) family morning welcomes Waitangi Day alongside Ngati Whatua on Okahu Bay alongside ringing in Auckland Pride Festival 2014.
Bring a breakfast picnic and enjoy the recreation and refreshments for culture lovers of all ages, including a special acoustic performance from Taylor Hori and 14 year oldChainey Nathan
Things move from the coast to the CBD later in the evening, as Aroha Mardi Gras kicks off two shows taking place at the recently-refurbished Galatos Live; the Mika Haka Foundation crew present their 3rd annual Aroha Mardi Gras from 7pm, featuring the talents of Zakk d’Larte, Identity (NZGT), Teen Faggot with Jaycee Tanuvasa, AshleyTonga (X-Factor NZ) and many more to be announced in January.
Then at 9pm, Auckland audiences are treated to an encore performance of the award-winning Salon Mika, featuring Megan Alatini and Penny Dodd. The talk of both Auckland Pride Festival 2013 and Auckland Fringe 2013, this is a chance for those who missed it the first time round to bear witness to a performance cited by Theatreview as “Mika’s finest work yet.”

MAORI DAWN CEREMONY:
Okahu Bay, Orakei – from 6:00am onwards for a 6.42am sunrise. Free – suitable for all ages.
