Netball Central Zone Announces NZ Talent Development Squad

Netball Central Zone Announces NZ Talent Development Squad
Media Release

11 December 2013

Netball Central Zone has announced a squad of 50 players and nine umpires who have been selected for the Central Zone NZ Talent Development Programme in 2014, following four successful Cluster Development Sessions held during November and December.

The Talent Development Programme is an exciting opportunity for players and umpires to learn and experience the principles of high performance netball. The programme aims to give athletes an insight into the commitment and skills required to perform at an elite level including specialist sessions on skill development, nutrition, mental skills, athlete life and strength & conditioning. Coaches from within the Central Zone are invited to attend and help to deliver some of the skill components.

Netball New Zealand Emerging Talent Selectors will be also attending the programme days within each zone across the country, as part of their role to identify talent. Players and umpires will be tracked and observed on a number of occasions, including at tournaments throughout the 2014 netball season, before a final selection is made in September/October. Those selected will receive invitations to attend the National Development Camp in December 2014.
