KNOCK KNOCK
11 – 21 December at the Herald Theatre, Aotea Centre
(Sunday to Wednesday 7pm, Thursday to Saturday 8pm, Friday 13 December, 9pm)
Eight doors. The choice is yours. Just knock and discover the secrets that lie behind them. It’s a Christmas circus cabaret where you choose what happens next.
The Dust Palace have created a cabaret season that brings together their own special mix of mischievous sensuality and dynamic physicality, featuring nine stunning performers. It’s a Christmas treat for one and all.
KNOCK KNOCK combines new cabaret, aerial circus and comedy into a fantastical chocolate-box adventure, inviting audiences to discover the stories and bring to life the performances behind each door.
The show resides in a fantasy land of Victorian style toys. Tin soldiers, porcelain dolls, snow globes. It’s an antique advent calendar and The Nutcracker gone wild.
Utilizing the perfect-for-circus shaped Herald Theatre; The Dust Palace has intentionally not created a show, so that you can discover it for yourself in this 'audience choice' Christmas themed circus cabaret show with an adult bent.
‘It’s all left in the audiences hands’ says Eve Gordon, The Dust Palace creator and producer. ‘Someone must knock on a door for the show to begin and when the performance from that doorway
ends someone must knock on another door. No show will be the same and the performers must be on their toes!’
The instant the first brave audience member knocks, a revealing Victorian tale of Christmas will begin. It’s a sneak peek into a secret Dickensian world of Circus.
Fantastic Dust Palace performers Edward Clendon, Rochelle Mangan, Eve Gordon, Geof Gilson, Adrian Smith and Ascia Maybury are joined by the Winner of Best Aerial Act at the Golden Carny Awards 2013 Aaron Burr, and international adagio legend Shannon McGurgan in this magical, Christmas fantasy.
