Clifton Terrace Students Packed the Bus for Christmas
Clifton Terrace Students Packed the Bus for Christmas
Students at Clifton Terrace Model School got on board the ‘Go Pack the Bus’ event Friday, 29 November. Visited by a Christmas-themed Go Wellington bus inclusive with Santa Claus and band orchestrating Christmas classics, the students got in the true spirit of Christmas by donating imperishable food, toys and gifts for families in need.
From 19 to 29 November co partners Wellington City Mission and The Breeze visited schools and businesses throughout the Greater Wellington region collecting for families struggling to achieve a good quality of life, particularly at Christmas time.
Other schools such as Kilbirnie, St Francis de Sales, Owhiro Bay School, Kelburn, Khandallah, Churton Park, Pinehaven and Tawa; and businesses such as Countdown Petone, Pak n’ Save Petone and New World Island Bay also helped pack the bus during the event weeks.
Go Pack the Bus has been diligently collecting over the years. Every year the Wellington city community bands together and the bus loads just keep getting bigger.
In 2012, Go Pack the Bus collected two bus loads of goods for the Wellington City Mission. The year before that over 1,000 Christmas food parcels and 5,600 new toys were collected. All these items were given to families of Wellington City Mission and other social services in the Wellington area.
With more schools and Wellington businesses getting on board this important event we can keep increasing the amount we’re giving to those less fortunate, but just as important as the rest of us.
