Silver for Adam Hall on Day Two of Competition
Copper Mountain, Colorado, USA - (8 December 2013) – New Zealand Paralympian Adam Hall has won a silver medal in the super-G on day two of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) North America Cup races currently being held at the Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado, USA. The result backs up Adam’s bronze medal winning performance from yesterday.
It was another cold day for the racers with the temperature dropping and the snow falling. Despite this, both Adam Hall and team mate Corey Peters, who competes in men’s sitting class, were determined to make a better fist of the conditions after a successful first day of racing.
Adam Hall was the first Standing athlete to race, posting a blistering pace all the way down and finishing a full seven seconds faster than yesterday; the track was slick and Adam was on form.
The outcome was a solid second place, one better than yesterday and another affirmation that Adam is on the right track as momentum builds towards the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia in March 2014.
“Today was an extremely fast course and bitterly cold,” Adam explained post-event. “I am extremely happy with my performance over the last two super g races. With such a world class field it’s been a good measurement of where we are heading into the rest of the season. It’s very exciting as we will go away and continue to work hard on progressing my super g even more.”
Corey Peters was determined to put a race together that was going to place him well inside the top 10. Pushing the limits, he crashed due to equipment failure, with his outrigger snapping due to the cold!
Corey will race in the Giant Slalom tomorrow with a day off for Hall
