Audio Foundation Artist Residency program 2014 awarded
The Audio Foundation is pleased to
announce Thomas Lambert as the recipient of
the Audio Foundation Artist Residency 2014. This residency
provides NZ artists from around New Zealand with the
opportunity to make work in a context free of traditional
day-to-day pressures, to focus on their work for a sustained
three-week period in February 2014. The goal of this
residency is to produce outcomes in the form of adventurous
and well realised new sound-related work presented to the
public.
For the 2014 AF Artist Residency Thomas Lambert will produce work towards an album of music and a book of images and writing to accompany it. Lambert will host open studio events throughout the residency period. The AF Artist Residency will culminate with a public event to give an exhibition of work produced and a live music performance with video projections.
Thomas Lambert is a multi-instrumentalist with a focus on synth, voice, guitar, drums and violin. As a member of several musical projects including i.ryoko, Seth Frightening and Skyburial (an ambient/noise/rock trio), he has performed many live shows around New Zealand (and some in Australia) and supported artists the likes of Low, The Books, Jonsi, Grizzly Bear, Eric Copeland, Ilios, Leighton Craig and Hildur Gudnadottir, among others.
Thomas Lambert has recorded solo under the the name i.ryoko, releasing two albums 'Sacred Space (2013)' and 'Rarities (2007-2011)' (2013). He has produced commissioned works for Jack Body and sound design for numerous theatre and short-film works. Lambert has a Bachelor of Music at NZSM (Sonic Arts & Instrumental Composition) and a Diploma in Audio Engineering and Music Production at MAINZ.
