Sensational Line Up of Classes At Teretonga 

This weekend's motor racing at Teretonga Park will feature a sensational line up of classes.

Leading the way in the event presented by Downer is the ever popular OSCA/Sport Saloons which include some good old fashioned big banger racing cars. Entries such as Christchurch driver Geoff Washbourne in his 6 litre Holden Commodore, Pierre Neame of Winton in a Ford Mustang, Mike Baldwin of Timaru in a Holden SLR 5000 and Dion Prentice of Cromwell in a Chev Corvette always thrill the crowds. However, they will be kept honest by the likes of Andrew Cundall of Invercargill in his Toyota Levin, Dave Agnew of Christchurch (Volvo C70) and a host of Mitsubishi EVO's, turbocharged Toyota Corolla's and a Subaru WRX.

Current New Zealand Formula Ford Champion James Munro of Christchurch should be the man to beat in the Sports & Racing car events as he prepares for his Toyota Racing Series debut with an outing in a Formula Renault. He is up against Dave McKenzie of Invercargill and his great rival from last years Formula Ford Championship, runner-up Brendon Leitch in a Stealth. The South Island Formula Ford cars will run alongside the Sports & Racing cars intent on their own battles with current NZ and South Island Formula Ford Championship leader Jamie Conroy of Invercargill making his first appearance at home in his new Mygale. He will continue his ongoing battle with Michael Collins of Christchurch. After this meeting the South Island Formula Fords will combine with the New Zealand Championship competitors for their next outing at Teretonga over the weekend of 11-12 January.   

The Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloons will supply a large grid at the event with some exciting cars amongst them. Colin Dawson will be on track in his new Chev Camaro while Robert Ralston in his Nissan Silvia, Darryn Andrews in his Nissan Primera turbo and the rest of the grid will provide good racing.

The Pre 65 Saloon class features a good field where Rodger Cunninghame, Wayne Tuffley, Stuart Mitchell and Greg Stewart uphold Southland honour while Southlanders Russell Keeler (Falcon) and Paul Muir (Commodore) will be part of an impressive NZ Six Saloon field which features some North Island entries.

Daniel Taylor of Timaru leads a strong Pro 7 Saloon field while Southlanders Alan Crawford and John Armitstead will be a part of the Mini 7 South fields.

A full day of racing commences at 9.15am on Sunday. Admission is just $15 while children 12 and under are free. Practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday.

14-16 February 2014: Evolution Motorsport Classic SpeedFest featuring top class classic motor racing 

14-16 March 2014: Motor Racing presented by Downer - NZ Super Trucks, NZ Six, Honda Cup, Pre 65 Saloons, Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans, Sports & Racing Cars
