Josh Emett to demonstrate at iconic Fieldays food event
Celebrity chef Josh Emett will be returning to his Waikato roots in June 2014 to delight food focused visitors when he
performs an impressive three demonstrations a day at NZ National Fieldays.
Emett, who is soon to be back on our television screens in the fifth season of Masterchef New Zealand, will be taking a
break from his busy schedule to appear as the celebrity chef in Fieldays’ Kiwi’s Best Kitchen where he is looking
forward to showcasing skills and recipes that visitors can replicate at home.
The hugely popular Kiwi’s Best Kitchen, with its Kitchen Theatre and exclusive exhibition area, is undoubtedly one of
the busiest marquees at Fieldays where visitors are tempted to taste and toast New Zealand’s favourite and unique food
and beverages.
Emett’s sizzling shows in the Kitchen Theatre are bound to appeal to those who love to impress in the kitchen and are
always looking for a few trusty tips.
The acclaimed Michelin star chef, who was bought up on a farm outside Hamilton, has very fond memories of visiting
Fieldays when he was a boy and is now looking forward to returning next year as the 2014 Kiwi’s Best Kitchen Celebrity
Chef.
“It’s a very easy and very comfortable place for me,” said Emett who will also be exhibitingChef Series, his own range of restaurant quality, slow cooked meats, and his new cookbook ‘Cut’.
The book features great meat recipes for the home cook and uses Emett’s knowledge and experience of what to do with
every inch of an animal. When explaining the background for his book Emett refers to the fact that he was bought up on a
farm and in a rural community.
“It stems from the fact that we always had home kill in the freezer and so many cuts of meat sitting there… the braising
cuts, the racks, loins and everything like that and we’d slowly work our way through.
“I’m really excited to be bringing my book to sell at Fieldays next year, people can come and talk about the recipes,
what they can do and how they can apply them to their home life. It’s about being able to broaden what you do in the
kitchen – it’s not always that easy – you want good simple recipes but also to branch out and do a few different
things.”
After the success of demonstrating at Fieldays 2013 to packed-out crowds, Emett said it was absolutely fantastic and
that he was really looking forward to coming back, and bringing his two sons, aged three and five years, “They’ll go
nuts out there as they love anything to do with tractors and machinery!”
Emett’s entertaining and educational cooking demonstrations will also feature delicious dishes created from ingredients
sourced in the Kiwi’s Best Kitchen marquee as he showcases top New Zealand products and recipes.
New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays will be held 11-14 June 2014 at Mystery Creek Events Centre, 10 minutes south
